Kote is a Japanese term for hand armor, originating from the era of the Samurai. Today, Kote is used by kendoka (practitioners of kendo) to protect their hands from the shinai, a bamboo sword. Modern Kote have fingers, but traditional samurai Kote were fingerless for a better grip on their sword. Similarly, our Kote Fingerless Leather Gloves provide excellent grip and pair perfectly with our IKA CCW Leather Vest.
